Biography

Hyo-bin (Angela) Um was born in St. Louis, MO and grew up in Korea. She moved back to the United States while in high school and studied Biological Sciences at Cornell University. She performed basic science research at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia after graduation and then pursed MD/MPH degree at Drexel University College of Medicine. She completed Internal Medicine residency at Rutgers University New Jersey Medical School. She joined Yale University Pulmonary Critical Care Medicine Fellowship in 2023 and is planning to stay one more year to do Sleep Medicine Fellowship.

  • Leading a longitudinal observational study examining diaphragmatic function in patients with chronic respiratory failure who remain intubated for seven days or longer

  • Joined the Clinical Quality Improvement team and analyzed statistics to evaluate guideline adherence in Ambulatory Health Services
  • Conducted MPH study utilizing data from the Ambulatory Health Services

The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Philadelphia, PA

  • Joint Development project: traced the origin and the fate joint progenitors called interzone cells during synovial joint development by using a mouse model
  • Temporomandibular Disorder study: processed temporomandibular joint sections to study mitotic activity in mouse model
