Christine Ryan, MD, PhD

Christine was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago. She received her undergraduate degree from Florida Atlantic University, working as a research scholar at the Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience, followed by her MD and PhD in Neuroscience from University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. She completed her PhD in the lab of Dr. Jae K Lee at the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis, which focused on the role of lipid metabolism and inflammation in macrophages following spinal cord injury, and was awarded a F31 NINDS predoctoral grant for her work. During medical school, she engaged in clinical research on metabolomic profiling of sex hormones in MS/NMOSD. She is the co-founder of her school's Apollo Society for Translational Medicine chapter, has volunteered in several outreach capacities, and served as peer mentor in the Program in Biomedical Sciences. She is interesting in pursuing Neuroimmunology and a career as a physician-scientist. Her personal interests include being a cat mom, long distance running, pilates, oil painting and classical piano.
