Biography

Chandana Karumanchi is a Postgraduate Research Associate at the Yale School of Medicine Reproductive Sciences Biobank. Her research interests lie at the intersection of molecular biology and community health outcomes, with a particular focus on addressing disparities in care and improving access for underserved populations. Her academic and research background spans molecular biology, pathology, and paleobotany, with prior work analyzing histological slides of fossilized plant tissues and contributing to case report surrounding pediatric aneryusms. Chandana strives to be an advocate in and out of clinical settings, with experience doing lobbyist work nationally and locally with Improve the Dream, where she collaborates on getting co-sponsors for legislation and storytelling initiatives to elevate voices. Across all settings, she strives to bring a systems-level lens grounded in scientific detail and policy impact.

Chandana is driven by a commitment to medicine that is human-centered, culturally perceptive, and grounded in both science and lived experience. She believes that good care begins with listening and understanding a patient's story, values, and environment before making clinical decisions.

Chandana dreams of being a physician who is able to translate complex scientific findings into actionable strategies that meet real-world community needs. Her approach to medicine is informed by both empathy and scientific rigor. She aspires to become a physician who not only treats illness but also empowers patients through culturally aware, compassionate care.
