Biography
With nearly a decade of experience as an inpatient substance use disorder clinician, Brandon Horton brings extensive expertise to his role. He holds an associate of science degree from Gateway Community College, where he also received his certification for drug and alcohol recovery counseling, and a bachelor of arts degree in Sociology from Southern Connecticut State University. Horton is a certified addiction counselor and internationally certified alcohol and drug counselor, having maintained both certifications for the past 9 years.
Working as a health promotion advocate with Project ASSERT in the emergency department at YNHH has been a daily learning and rewarding experience for Horton. The emergency department is where he meets with people who may not be aware of the health risks involved with their substance use or the treatment options available to help them. Horton feels very fortunate to be part of a team that is making a positive impact on people's lives.
