Biography

Dr. Alexis Parks joined Yale Health in 2025 as a postdoctoral associate in the Mental Health and Counseling department. She earned her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the City College of New York, where her dissertation examined the psychological outcomes of police brutality and coping among Black adults. She completed her predoctoral internship at Kings County Hospital in New York City, training across inpatient, outpatient, partial hospitalization, psychiatric emergency, forensic, and women’s health services.

Dr. Parks has provided psychotherapy in a variety of clinical settings, including hospitals, college counseling centers, and community mental health clinics, working with clients from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. Her career focus is on trauma, racial stress and resilience, and multicultural counseling. Her clinical interests include complex trauma, identity development, interpersonal struggles, anxiety, depression, and the intersection of systemic oppression and mental health.

Dr. Parks is grounded in psychodynamic therapy and blends evidence-based practices to foster a collaborative, culturally responsive, and supportive therapy experience for students from all walks of life.
