Akanksha Dave, MD

Akanksha grew up in New Jersey and attended the University of Florida for both undergraduate and medical school. Her interests in neurology began early and grew through her experiences in movement disorders research, patient advocacy, and clinical care. Her research has explored nonmotor outcomes in essential tremor following deep brain stimulation, as well as IgG4-related orbital disease and other clinical topics. Through her experiences in the Medical Honors Program and Patient Advocacy Track, she developed a particular interest in medical humanities, health equity, and the ways physicians can better understand and advocate for their patients. She also served in leadership roles across several specialty interest groups and contributed to the development of a Bias in Medicine podcast that was incorporated into the medical school's curriculum. Outside the hospital, Akanksha enjoys hosting themed dinners for friends, experimenting in her coffee bar and making music.
