Public Safety Resources for the YSM Community

As a reminder, Duane Lovello, JD, Yale University Head of Public Safety, recently shared resources available for our community.

Yale School of Medicine (YSM) partners with the Public Safety teams to keep you informed through quarterly YSM Community Safety town hall meetings hosted by the YSM Safety and Security Committee, which includes leaders from YPS, Yale Parking & Transit, and Yale New Haven Health System. The next town hall will be held on Tuesday, May 12, at noon.

The following resources are available, and you can find additional information on the Safety & Security Resources section on MyYSM:

• Emergency Planning: Contact the YPS Emergency Management team to develop an emergency response plan for your department, unit, college, or school. 

• Training: The YPS Learning and Development Unit offers courses, including Stop the Bleed, de-escalation, and CPR.

• LiveSafe App: Download LiveSafe to connect 24/7 with Yale Police or Yale Security, or to request a walking escort from a security officer.

• Bulldog Safety Contact Card: Add this quick and easy directory to your smart phone and save important health, public safety, and facilities contact information.

• Blue Phones: Blue phones are located across all campuses and are equipped with red emergency buttons for direct connection to report a police, fire, or medical emergency.

• Stay Informed: Visit the Community Safety webpage and bookmark the Yale Status Board for emergency alerts and operational updates.
