Situation
Organizations and individuals have offered donations of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to support patient care.
Background
In typical times, the health system has not accepted product donations. However, due to severe supply constraints, it is possible that donated products that have been evaluated for quality and safety can be used for our caregivers and patients at Yale New Haven Health.
Assessment
Corporate supply chain staff will follow industry guidelines to assess and verify the quality and safety of the donated products. Products should be new and in original, unopened packaging. The appropriate donated products will be stored at the Regional Operations Center (ROC) until needed. Categories of PPE products that are needed are:
- Disposable Head Covers/Caps
- Disposable Gowns
- Disposable Gloves
- N95 Respirator Face Masks
- Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPRs)
- Disposable Face Masks
- Face-shields/Goggles
- Coveralls/Scrubs
- Shoe-covers
- Disinfection Wipes & Liquids
- General Purpose Hand Cleansers
Recommendation
Donations will be managed centrally by Corporate supply chain. Potential donors should send an email to DonationsPPE@ynhh.org. Offers will be answered within three to five business days. Employees and medical staff who are referring a donor should ask the donor to submit an email as above.
The attached letter can be sent to the donor with instructions on how to contact us and submit specific information.
