Pearlson Speaks on Cannabis, Psychosis at 19th Annual Flor-Henry Lectures

Godfrey Pearlson, MD, PhD, professor of psychiatry and of neuroscience at Yale School of Medicine was the speaker at the 19th annual Flor-Henry Lectures at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

The event is a series of three one-hour invited lectures on related psychiatric topics. Recent lecturers have included Tom Insel, Karl Deisseroth, Robin Carhart-Harris, Edward Bullmore, and Sarah Lisanby.

Pearlson’s three lectures were titled: “Rethinking psychosis; using biological markers to reclassify psychotic illness. B-SNIP and beyond;” “Marijuana and Madness: can cannabis provoke psychosis; evidence and mechanism;” and “Cannabis and driving: what’s going on under the hood?”

In addition to speaking, Pearlson also participated in discussion panels with attendees.

Pearlson’s current major research interests center on the behavioral effects of cannabinoids, and the subtyping of psychotic illnesses using biological measures.
