1 Minute Read

Julio Nunes, MD, a second-year resident, has been selected to receive the John Renner Travel Award from the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry (AAAP).

The $1,200 award will defray the cost for Nunes to attend the AAAP’s 34th Annual Meeting, to be held December 7-10 in San Diego, Calif.

The John Renner Travel Award is given to medical students, residents, and fellows who are interested in learning about substance use disorders and co-occurring psychiatric disorders.

At the meeting, Nunes will present the paper, “The Influence of Childhood Trauma on the Effects of Delta-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol in Persons with Opioid Use Disorder: Insights from a Randomized, Placebo-Controlled, Crossover Clinical Trial.”

Nunes is mentored by Joao De Aquino, MD, assistant professor of psychiatry, at the Pain and Addiction Interaction Neurosciences (PAIN) Laboratory.
