Dr. Mark William Lischner passed away August 14, 2023. He was 85. Dr. Lischner was born in West Hartford Connecticut, the only son to Moses and Freda Lischner. Mark was a member of the graduating class of 1960 at Wesleyan. Taking after his father, Mark attended Yale Medical School graduating in 1965. He completed his internship at Grady Memorial Hospital, his residency in internal medicine at Emory University and his Fellowship in Pulmonary Disease at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Lischner has contributed to many papers, studies and articles.
His career began in the US Navy where he served as a physician at the Naval hospital in San Diego and also served aboard the USS Repose. He was subsequently the founding member of Pulmonary Medicine Associates which provides pulmonary and critical care services for the greater Sacramento, California area. He has worked over 50 years at the same corporation. Dr. Lischner retired in April of 2023.
Dr. Lischner was not only appreciated for his medical expertise but also his humanity. From his high school yearbook quote, «give the world the best you have and the best will come back to you,» he has lived up to this motto on a daily basis. His interest in not only his patients but his colleagues and staff’s well being was remarkable.
When Dr. Lischner was not working he was spending time with his daughter in Marin County, CA or his son and family in Northern Norway. He thoroughly had a passion for family as well as travel.
He is survived by his son Benjamin, daughter Lori, daughter in law Kathrine and his three granddaughters Thea, Maja and Nora.
