Hi Everyone:
Call me naïve and oblivious. Clueless even. But in these dark times, I believe more strongly than ever in our residency’s mission…
To care for all patients, wherever they come from, however they got here.
To use evidence to guide our practice.
To uphold healthcare as a human right.
To educate the public about the hazards of pollution, climate change, firearms, vaccine misinformation, and fraudulent medical claims.
To stand up for patients made vulnerable by poverty, violence, discrimination, and hunger.
To welcome doctors of all backgrounds into our profession (and residency).
To lead with kindness- as honest, altruistic, brave professionals.
To honor the inherent worth of all humans.
On this beautiful Sunday morning, let’s renew our commitment to medicine’s ideals: to investigate, study, and fight disease; to promote health; to heal; and to put our patients’ needs first, without exception, no matter how intimidating the obstacles, no matter how daunting the challenges.
With that I’ll be pedaling in to join my team on MICU Green. Enjoy your Sunday, everyone.
Yours,
Mark
