Biography

As a general urologist, Dr. Steven Schoenberger focuses a large part of his practice on men’s health, with a special interest in minimally invasive and medical management of BPH, kidney stones, erectile dysfunction, male sexual dysfunction, vasectomy. He is also involved in initial diagnosis and long-term management of urologic cancers.

Dr. Schoenberger completed his residency in urology at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana, and also completed a fellowship in urologic oncology. Dr. Schoenberger served on the academic faculty of the Department of Urology at Tulane before entering private practice in New London, CT in 1986. He served as Chairman of Urology at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital (L+M) in New London for many years, and also was Director of the Community Cancer Center in New London. Most recently, Dr. Schoenberger was an attending physician at Hartford Healthcare Medical Group in Waterford, CT and at Backus Hospital in Norwich, CT.

Dr. Schoenberger enjoys being part of the Department of Urology at Yale School of Medicine and rekindling his friendships and collaboration with members of the faculty. He will care for patients at the Yale Urology clinics located in Madison, CT, New London, CT, and Old Saybrook, CT.

Overview

Steven Schoenberger, MD, is a general urologist focused on men’s health. He is particularly interested in minimally invasive medical management of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), kidney stones, erectile dysfunction, male sexual dysfunction, and vasectomies. BPH is noncancerous prostate enlargement and the most common benign tumor in men.

Dr. Schoenberger is also involved in the initial diagnosis and long-term management of urologic cancers. These are cancers of the urinary tract (kidneys and bladder), the prostate, and the reproductive organs.

He is an assistant professor in clinical urology at Yale School of Medicine.
