Biography

Gary L. Bernardini, MD, PhD is a neurologist who specializes in the treatment of patients with cerebrovascular disease and those requiring treatment in a neurointensive care unit. He is board certified in vascular neurology, neurocritical care, and general neurology. Dr. Bernardini works with individuals to create personalized treatment plans aimed at managing symptoms, improving quality of life, and preventing complications.

As Chief of Neurology and Director of the Stroke Services at Bridgeport Hospital, Dr. Bernardini also serves as a leader in patient care and clinical program development. His work focuses on advancing neurological care and supporting patients with complex or urgent neurological needs.

Dr. Bernardini received his medical and doctoral training at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and The University of Texas Southwestern School of Biomedical Sciences, in Dallas, Texas. He competed an internship at Mt. Sinai Icahn School of Medicine and neurology residency at New York Hospital, Weill-Cornell Medical Center. Dr. Bernardini subsequently completed his fellowship in neurocritical care at at The Neurological Institute of New York, Columbia University Irving Medical Center in New York City.
