Psychiatry Resident

Aminata Traore, MD, is a fourth year psychiatry resident. She is currently an administrative chief, as well as chief of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for the Yale Psychiatry Residency. Aminata was born and raised in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire and moved to the DMV area of the US at the age of 11. She holds a B.A. in psychology from Dartmouth College and an MD from the University of Pennsylvania.

Aminata is interested in the effects of immigration on mental health, especially in West African immigrants to the US; her other interests in psychiatry include community psychiatry, women’s health, and the effects of race on mental health. She is looking forward to building community among different years and communities this year.

Outside of psychiatry, she enjoys spending time with her mini poodle mix, Lulu, and accumulating house plants. Her other hobbies include visiting as many bakeries and ice cream shops in Connecticut as she can, reading fiction, and listening to podcasts about pop culture.
