First and Second Year Pre-Clinical Studies

In the second year of YSM’s integrated curriculum, the Department of Psychiatry provides students with insights into the neurobiological underpinnings of various human behaviors and related psychiatric disorders. This is done during the Master Course titled ‘Connections to the World.’

Specifically, lectures on the biological basis of behavior are juxtaposed with in-class interviews of patients suffering from related disorders. Basic neuroscience instruction is also tightly meshed with the teaching of clinical psychiatry that uses both the lecture and case-based study formats. The course is administered by Meenakshi Alreja, PhD, Dr. John Cahill, MD, PhD, and Dr. Dale Sebastian, MBBS.

All medical students are invited to participate in the activities of the Yale Medical Students Psychiatric Association (YMSPA).
