    Biography

    Dr. Siew serves as the Medical Director of the Children's Emergency Department at Yale New Haven Children's Hospital. He received his undergraduate degree from Johns Hopkins University and then attended medical school at Rutgers - Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Jersey. Dr. Siew completed his pediatric residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital - Cornell, where he served as chief resident, and followed by a Pediatric Emergency Medicine fellowship at Yale. During his fellowship training, he was awarded the Ken Graff Young Investigator Award from the American Academy of Pediatrics for his project evaluating telemedicine and its reliability in assessing seriously ill children. In addition to his role as medical director and attending physician in the Children's Emergency Department, Dr. Siew has experience in clinical documentation and coding/billing. He is a Certified Professional Coder and has an MBA in Health Care Administration from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

    Overview

    Lawrence T. Siew, MD MBA, is a pediatric emergency medicine specialist who focuses on providing urgent and emergent care for infants, children, and adolescents with serious illnesses and injuries. He uses a range of diagnostic and treatment approaches to manage conditions that require immediate attention.

    As associate professor of pediatrics and of emergency medicine at Yale School of Medicine, Dr. Siew serves as the medical director of the Children’s Emergency Department at Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital. His interests focus on patient care and outcomes, quality and safety, operational efficiency and novel ways to deliver care, including the usage of telemedicine. He was honored by the American Academy of Pediatrics for his work investigating ways to improve virtual telemedicine assessments. In addition, Dr. Siew is a certified professional coder with expertise in physician documentation, coding and billing.

    Dr. Siew attended Johns Hopkins University for his undergraduate degree and obtained his medical degree from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He completed a residency in pediatrics at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center and served as chief resident. This was followed by a fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine at Yale School of Medicine. Dr. Siew also holds a master of business administration in healthcare management from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
