    Biography

David Hur attended The Johns Hopkins University, where he was a Michael Bloomberg Scholar and received his undergraduate degree majoring in Biophysics. He completed medical school at Georgetown University School of Medicine. Dr. Hur trained next in Internal Medicine at University of Virginia Medical Center, then in Cardiovascular Medicine, and finally in Advanced Cardiovascular Imaging, the latter two both at Yale-New Haven Medical Center. Subsequently, he was appointed to the faculty as an attending cardiologist and multimodality cardiac imager in the Department of Internal Medicine at the Yale University School of Medicine, where he is currently Assistant Professor of Medicine (Cardiology) in the Clinician Educator-Scholar (CES) Track. Dr. Hur is board certified in the specialty of Internal Medicine, and the subspecialties of Cardiovascular Disease, Nuclear Cardiology, Cardiovascular Computed Tomography, and Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance. He is Level III-trained in Cardiac MRI and Echocardiography, and a Testamur of the National Board of Echocardiography's Examination of Special Competence (ASCeXAM).

Dr. Hur's research interests center around judicious use of imaging with interdisciplinary specialty collaboration to aid in the diagnosis and management of various cardiovascular diseases, including 1) quality improvement of meaningful imaging usage for infective endocarditis, 2) multimodality imaging of right heart disease in pulmonary hypertension, and 3) impact of a multidisciplinary investigative approach of structural diseases (thoracic aorta aneurysm, aortic stenosis, mitral regurgitation) as part of a heart team that includes cardiothoracic surgery, interventional cardiology, advanced heart failure, and advanced cardiovascular imaging. He is also actively involved in educating trainees in the Yale Cardiovascular Medicine Fellowship Program, and for his efforts was the co-recipient of the 2019 Yale Cardiology Faculty Teaching Award. Finally, he studied how to improve incorporation of cardiovascular CT and MR imaging education into general fellowship training as part of his participation in the inaugural (2019-2020) cohort of the Department of Internal Medicine's Advancement of Clinician-Educator Scholarship (ACES) Faculty Development Program. More recently, Dr. Hur was selected for the first (2020-2022) cohort of the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (SCCT)'s Future Leaders Program (FLP).
