    Liu Appointed Vice Chair of Faculty Affairs

    We are pleased to announce that Rachel Liu, MBBCh, FACEP, FAIUM, has been appointed Vice Chair for Faculty Affairs in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Yale School of Medicine. In her new role, Dr. Liu will oversee faculty development, including appointment and promotion reviews, oversight of the department’s Faculty Development and Academic Qualifications (FDAQ) committee, and coordination of faculty development programs.

    Looking ahead, Dr. Liu intends to broaden faculty development and wellness initiatives while continuing to strengthen the department’s culture and climate. She aims to create additional opportunities for faculty mentorship and career growth, and to enhance collaboration among colleagues across all sites.

    Arjun Venkatesh, MD, MBA, MHS
    Anthony N. Brady Professor of Emergency Medicine and Chair of Emergency Medicine at Yale School of Medicine

    A respected leader in emergency medicine education, Dr. Liu joined the Yale Emergency Medicine faculty in 2011 and is a Professor on the Clinical-Educator-Scholar track. She currently serves as the Yale School of Medicine Director of Point-of-Care Ultrasound Education, and Curriculum Director of the Advanced Training Period. Dr. Liu also led the launch of the advanced emergency ultrasound certification and maintenance in certification activities in partnership with the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM), a pioneering achievement in ultrasound education.

    Most recently, Dr. Liu served as Associate Director of Faculty Affairs and Development, where she helped build the department’s faculty development curriculum and comprehensive onboarding and orientation programs. Her efforts in these roles have significantly strengthened support and growth opportunities for our faculty.
