Carlos Grilo, PhD, professor of psychiatry and of psychology, has been honored by The Obesity Society (TOS) with the Thomas A. Wadden Award for Distinguished Mentorship.
The award was presented at the TOS annual meeting in October in Atlanta. It honors a TOS member for distinguished mentorship of the society’s early career investigators. Created in 2015, it is named for Professor Thomas A. Wadden, PhD, who mentored many individuals who went on to pursue successful careers in obesity research and clinical care.
Grilo is director of the Program for Obesity, Weight and Eating Research (POWER) at Yale School of Medicine. He is an internationally-recognized expert on eating disorders, obesity, and manifestations of disordered eating.
In his capacity as director of POWER, Grilo provides leadership of this entirely grant-funded clinical-research and training program focused on eating/weight disorders. POWER provides research training to students/trainees (undergraduate, graduate, post-doctoral, and early-stage faculty) with interests in patient-oriented research and academic careers.
