Research

Overview

My research is deeply rooted in addiction medicine, with an emphasis on health disparities and mental health outcomes, particularly in underserved populations. My work explores how structural vulnerabilities—such as racial, socio-economic, and systemic inequalities—affect access to and the quality of mental health and addiction care. I focus on identifying and addressing the barriers that marginalized groups face in seeking addiction treatment, aiming to improve the effectiveness and reach of care interventions. Through my research, I seek to develop clinical and policy solutions that promote equity in mental health services.

This interest has led me to examine the complex interactions between substance use disorders and psychiatric care, particularly in populations that experience higher rates of health disparities. By exploring these relationships, I contribute to a broader understanding of how social determinants of health influence treatment outcomes. I am particularly interested in how healthcare systems can address the unique needs of these populations by developing tailored, accessible, and culturally sensitive approaches to addiction treatment.

A significant aspect of my work involves collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to advance addiction psychiatry and public health policies, with the goal of shaping healthcare delivery in ways that minimize health disparities. My long-term goal is to inform the development of integrated care models that address both mental health and substance use disorders, providing comprehensive support to marginalized communities and enhancing the overall quality of life for affected individuals. Through evidence-based research, I aim to advocate for systemic changes that lead to more equitable health outcomes in addiction psychiatry.
