Biography

Chris is a former Yale intern, resident, and chief resident who is a career Hospitalist and medical educator. Chris was the first "academic" Hospitalist hired by the School of Medicine in 2010. He is active on a local and national level in medical education and Hospital Medicine. At present, he divides his time between supervision of medical trainees on teaching services, providing inpatient medical care on the NEMG Hospitalist service, directing the Program of Hospital Medicine in the section of General Internal Medicine, and fulfilling important administrative and educational roles as a co-Firm Chief of the Hospital Medicine inpatient medical Firm and Program Director of YSM's new Adult Hospital Medicine Fellowship .

  • Area of expertise: educational curriculum development. Designed and implemented inpatient didactic curriculum for Traditional Internal Medicine Residency training program. Designed and implemented hospital medicine elective curriculum for the Yale Internal Medicine Residency training programs.
  • Area of expertise: inpatient clinical deterioration. Experience locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally presenting concepts and experience with quality and process improvement regarding inpatient clinical deterioration. Medical Director of Yale-New Haven Hospital rapid response team (RRT) for 4 years. First author, peer-reviewed publication “Deterioration to Door Time”: An Exploratory Analysis of Delays in Escalation of Care for Hospitalized Patients. Senior author, peer-reviewed review publication “Sepsis: An Update in Management”. Senior author, peer-reviewed publication "Using System Inflammatory Response Syndrome as an
    Easy-to-Implement, Sustainable, and Automated Tool for All-Cause Deterioration Among Medical Inpatients."
  • Area of expertise: clinical case writing. Experience locally, regionally, and nationally presenting concepts of writing and mentoring abstract and publication submissions. First author, peer-reviewed "Why and how to prepare, write and submit clinical cases." Multiple individual clinical case peer-reviewed publications; mentorship of many student, resident, and fellow peer-reviewed publications; mentorship of student and resident national and regional meeting poster presentations.
