Biography
Dr. Pisani is a board certified physician who specializes in pulmonary and critical care medicine. As a clinician-investigator with expertise in pulmonary, critical care, sleep medicine and chronic disease epidemiology, Dr. Pisani’s research focuses on improving the care and outcomes of critically ill patients. She has a special interest in geriatric pulmonary and critical care medicine and outcomes in older patients. She holds an MPH in chronic disease epidemiology and brings this training and her research focus to her role as mentor for fellows and junior faculty doing clinical and translational work in pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine. In addition, she has extensive experience in conducting longitudinal clinical research studies both in the critical care setting and the outpatient setting. Her current research focuses on sleep in critically ill patients and its impact on delirium and other patient centered outcomes.

Overview
Margaret Pisani, MD, MPH, is a pulmonologist and critical care specialist.
Dr. Pisani’s research focuses on improving care and outcomes for critically ill patients. She studies delirium and sleep in the intensive care unit. She has a special interest in geriatric pulmonary and critically ill patients. In addition, she is interested in how sex and gender impact lung diseases and critical illness.
In 2021, Dr. Pisani received the CHEST College Medalist Award from the American College of Chest Physicians, bringing her career full circle. A grant from CHEST was what kick-started her research career.
Dr. Pisani is a professor of medicine (pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine) at Yale School of Medicine.
