Central Finance
The Central Finance team oversees the budgetary and financial management of the department. Their key activities are:
- Manages financial support services for the department
- Contributes to shaping the department's financial and operational priorities and the strategic planning process
- Assessing financial and/or operational challenges and opportunities
- Facilitating and strengthening the interface between the department and various stakeholders
- Implements and maintains strong internal controls
- Ensures adherence to contractual obligations and agreements, policies, procedures, and external regulatory requirements
- Takes corrective action to protect Yale’s assets, resources, and information
Office of the Chair
The Office of the Chair staff provides support to the department chair and vice chairs to uphold the mission of the Department of Internal Medicine.
- Represents chair’s interests through contacts with other Yale offices, YNHHS, other academic institutions, staff, students, and alumni
- Provides administrative support for department leadership
- Manages department Medical Grand Rounds

Clinical Affairs
The Clinical Affairs Physician Services team provides the following services:
- Yale Medicine credentialing
- Department-centered EPIC support and optimization
- Department billing, coding and HIPAA experts
- Data and reporting on clinical operations/activity and physician KPI metrics Quarterly
- Clinical Effort and Departmental Clinical Incentive Plan analysis
- Billing and Coding and EPIC utilization training seminars

The communications team raises the department's profile and enhances its reputation through articles, websites, newsletters, social media, annual reports, and other media that highlight the innovative work of faculty, staff, and trainees.
