Adaptation was Studied in Cortical Cells Maintained in vitro
Since adaptation appears to be an intrinsic membrane property of cortical cells, we next studied the cellular mechanisms of its generation with visual cortical slices maintained in vitro in an interface style recording chamber. Three electrodes are pictured here. The two on the left are for the local application of drugs through the picodrop method, and the one on the right is the intracellular recording electrode.
