Didactics
Yale EM didactics occur every Wednesday and start off with a wellness breakfast filled with an assortment of healthy food. Once our residents are energized, they embark on a five-hour lecture series that highlights many of the core and novel American Board of Emergency Medicine topics. These lecture series cover the core EM topics over a two-year cycle which ensures that residents are exposed to core topics at least twice during their residency. Didactics occur in small group sessions as well as large group sessions. The lectures are highlighted with simulation cases, cadaver procedures, and resident/faculty retreats. Throughout their time at Yale, residents gain expertise at public speaking and giving oral presentations through their resident lectures. Overall, the Yale EM didactics curriculum is aimed at teaching and expanding the skills of its residents in an environment that cultivates education.
