Second-year psychiatry resident Lala Forrest, MD, and Anna Yusim, MD, assistant clinical professor of psychiatry, participated on the panel "Glimpses of Indigenous Mental Health" at the UN General Assembly's UNGA79 Science Summit 2024 in New York City in September.
Taking place over three weeks, the Summit offered a comprehensive program designed to facilitate meaningful scientific collaboration across diverse scientific disciplines and sectors.
Yusim also moderated the presentation "Spirituality as a Catalyst" at the Summit. That presentation featured panelist Christopher Pittenger, MD, PhD, Elizabeth Mears and House Jameson Professor of Psychiatry. The next day, Yusim was a panelist on the presentation "Integrating Medical Care and Holistic Healing," also at the Summit.
Forrest is co-founder of the Indigenous School of Medicine and Yusim is chief medical officer of Conscious Health.
