The American Psychological Association Division 18 (Psychologists in Public Service) announced that Sandra Resnick, PhD, Associate Professor of Psychiatry, will receive its Michael S. Neale Award.
The award is presented to a person whose commitment to serving patients with serious mental illness is demonstrated in a body of work expressed through advocacy, research, program development, and/or service delivery.
It is named in memory of Dr. Neale, whose numerous contributions to community mental health, the profession of psychology, and Division 18 touched the lives of people with serious mental illness and a generation of practitioners, researchers, advocates, and administrators working to improve the lives of people with serious mental illness.
Resnick oversees the program evaluation of Veterans Health Administration’s (VHA) vocational rehabilitation programs and has a leadership role in the national Measurement Based Care Initiative. She previously led the Office of Mental Health Operations Strong Practices Project to recognize, share, and foster mental health innovation across VHA.
She is actively involved in psychology and psychiatry training at Yale and the VA Connecticut Healthcare System in West Haven.
Resnick is also editor of Psychiatric Rehabilitation Journal, published by the American Psychological Association.
