Bahadir Simsek, MD

Bahadir (Baha) Simsek is a resident at the Traditional Internal Medicine Program at the Yale New Haven Hospital. Prior to residency, he graduated from the Global Clinical Scholars Research Training Program at Harvard Medical School, and was a research fellow at the Center for Coronary Artery Disease at the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation, where he worked on multi-center registries and randomized controlled trials investigating complex cardiac interventions, including coronary bifurcation PCI and CTO PCI. He developed periprocedural risk scores to predict the risk of major complications for patients undergoing CTO PCI. In another study, he investigated the educational experience of interventional cardiology fellows in the US during the COVID-19 pandemic and iodinated contrast shortage. He also led another international study that examined the psychological well-being of interventional cardiologists.

His work is published in peer-reviewed journals, including at JACC: Cardiovascular Interventions, Circulation: Cardiovascular Interventions, International Journal of Cardiology, and American Journal of Cardiology.
