    Biography

    Nicole Casasanta, MD, is an instructor of medicine (medical oncology and hematology) and cares for patients with breast cancer as part of the Center for Breast Cancer at Smilow Cancer Hospital and Yale Cancer Center in New Haven and Trumbull. Dr. Casasanta earned her medical degree with distinction from George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences and completed residency at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital, where she served as Chief Resident. She recently completed her fellowship in medical oncology as part of the Yale Medical Oncology-Hematology Fellowship Program.

    In 2025, Dr. Casasanta received the Gianni Bonadonna Breast Cancer Research Fellowship from ASCO Conquer Cancer for her project evaluating HER2 and TROP2 Quantitative Immunofluorescence in patients with HER2-low, ultra low, and zero metastatic breast cancer receiving antibody drug conjugates (ADCs). Her areas of clinical and research interest include biomarkers for therapy response, circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) , and HER2+ breast cancers.
