INFORMATION FOR

    Collaborative Excellence at BBS

    Mission Statement

We encourage students from all backgrounds to apply to our program. If you join us you will receive the necessary support and mentorship both to thrive at Yale and to succeed in your future scientific career.

In particular, we strive to provide students with role models and mentors among the faculty and give students opportunities to network with these faculty and with one another. Prospective and current students are encouraged to contact the BBS Director of Collaborative Excellence to learn more about the strategies, resources, and programs available to you. The director, in concert with the School of Medicine's Office of Collaborative Excellence, administers the Yale BBS Development and Involvement Community (YBDIC).

    Students with Disabilities

We welcome students who may fit under the broad disability umbrella. Please visit https://accessibility.yale.edu for a general overview of all of Yale's accessibility resources. You may also contact the Yale Office of Student Accessibility Services (SAS) to map out an accommodation plan to ensure that you can successfully navigate the campus and academic environment. You are also welcome to involve your graduate program and thesis advisor in developing accommodation plans.

The Yale Housing department will work closely with SAS and you to find suitable university housing. Please register with SAS prior to submitting a Graduate Housing application.

The Graduate Writing Lab within the Poorvu Center for Teaching and Learning offers an array of accommodations to assist you with your writing needs.

Founded by BBS students, the Graduate Student Disability Alliance is a student-run organization that advocates for graduate students with disabilities and helps to foster a sense of community and belonging at Yale. The GSDA will be available during our on-campus recruitment weekends to meet with any interested applicants.

All BBS students have free access to Yale Health, a comprehensive on-campus medical center that offers comprehensive medical services including a Mental Health & Counseling Department with 50 clinicians who provide counseling exclusively to students.
