Please join us as we welcome Erik Waldman, MD to the Yale School of Medicine, Department of Surgery, Section of Otolaryngology. Dr. Waldman joined our Department as the Director of Pediatric Otolaryngology for Yale New Haven Children's Hospital on November 1, 2016. His clinical interests involve pediatric hearing loss and cochlear implantation, sleep disorders and issues related to adenotonsillar disease, chronic otitis media and chronic rhinosinusitis. Research interests include medical student and resident education, pediatric single sided hearing loss, and novel medications for the ear.
Dr. Waldman received his undergraduate degree in Animal Physiology and Neuroscience from University of California San Diego in 1996. Immediately following graduation, he served as a Research Fellow at the House Ear Institute. He graduated from UCLA Medical School in 2001, received his residency training in Otolaryngology at John Hopkins, and then spent a year in Vietnam providing ENT services to those in need. Dr. Waldman returned to the states in 2007 as a Fellow in the Department of Otolaryngology and Communication Enhancement at Boston’s Children’s Hospital. In 2008, he accepted a Faculty position at Columbia University as the Clinical Director of Pediatric Cochlear Implants and Director of Medical Student Education. We are pleased that he has accepted a position here and look forward to the expansion of the Pediatric Otolaryngology Section.
Dr. Waldman is excited to begin working with Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital and the Yale School of Medicine in developing and expanding our Pediatric Otolaryngology Program.
