Patrick Gallagher, MD, professor of pediatrics (neonatology), of genetics, and of pathology, has been named Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Perinatology, replacing Ned Lawson, MD, who successfully led the journal for many years. The Journal of Perinatology is the official journal of the American Academy of Pediatrics Section on Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine and the official publication of the National Perinatal Association of the United States.
Gallagher runs an NIH-funded research group focusing primarily on genetics, genomics, and developmental biology of inherited blood disorders. He also participates in translational studies of infectious diseases of the neonate and various quality improvement initiatives in the neonatal intensive care unit. Gallagher teaches trainees at all levels, from undergraduate, medical and graduate students to senior postdoctoral fellows and sabbatical faculty.
