Since this posting is happening in the wintertime, I am focused on all-season walking trails. This is a great one for a sunny day any time of year. If it happens to be winter and not too windy, the views will almost trick you into believing its summer. I found this lovely, paved promenade in a New York Times article recommending places to visit in New Haven. It actually has some other fun suggestions for local touristing (http://www.nytimes.com/2012/10/28/travel/36-hours-in-new-haven-conn.html).
Anyways, this trail is 1.7 miles long and takes you from one small park to another along the West Haven shoreline. It is a great place to take parents who might want a casual stroll along the sound.
West Haven Beach Walk
My two favorite memories of this walk are:
1. Running the promenade on a hot day and then jumping into the ocean
This is a great one for a sunny day any time of year.
2. Giggling at the hoards of people that appeared on the trail in the summer of 2016 and were walking while staring intently at their phones. Apparently, there were some must have water pokemon along the promenade.
Happy walking and wading!
