Biography
Courtney Fankhanel joined the Yale School of Medicine Physician Associate Program faculty in 2016 and is currently an Assistant Professor. She is the director of clinical education as well as serves as course director of EKG, surgical skills, transition, and callback curriculum.
Courtney is a physician assistant who graduated with an MMSc from Yale Physician Associate Program in 2008. She has been practicing clinically in cardiac surgery at Yale New Haven Hospital since 2009.
Her academic role includes:
- Develop and assess the clinical curriculum
- Maintain accreditation standards for clinical curriculum
- Maintain, evaluate, and collaborate with clinical partners
- Lecturer and workshop leader for intro to surgery, transitional skills, cardiology didactics, EKG course, ultrasound, simulation, procedural competencies.
- Academic advisement of students
- Committee member on Admissions, Program Assessment, and Educational Policy and Curriculum
- Clinical experience as a Cardiac Surgery PA at Yale New Haven Hospital in both the surgical and critical care setting.
