  • 00:05The Yale system is fundamental to our school.
  • 00:08It's really about lifelong
  • 00:09learning and about collaborating
  • 00:10together to learn together.
  • 00:12Students have the freedom to build
  • 00:14their own paths. You don't have
  • 00:16to wait till after medical school
  • 00:18to start becoming the doctor you want to be.
  • 00:21You don't really hear no, you hear. How can
  • 00:24we make this happen?
  • 00:26We have advisors and coaches and
  • 00:28faculty that are all here to help.
  • 00:31They also model the behavior
  • 00:33of lifelong learning for our
  • 00:34students in the hospital.
  • 00:36They model what it is to be
  • 00:38curious about their patients,
  • 00:40to consult with each other,
  • 00:42and then to advance knowledge so that
  • 00:44we can address new discoveries. At
  • 00:46the end of the day,
  • 00:48medicine is a team sport.
  • 00:50It's you, other physicians.
  • 00:51You'll be working with support
  • 00:53staff like nurses, caseworkers.
  • 00:54So to be able to learn how to
  • 00:57interact in a team environment
  • 00:59only propels medicine forward it really.
  • 01:01Instills in students the fact
  • 01:03that they're learning for their
  • 01:05future not to get a certain grade
  • 01:07on a test or a rank in a class. I
  • 01:10think the most important part is that
  • 01:12we really are each other's cheerleaders.
  • 01:14We're not running the same race,
  • 01:16we're not even on the same paths.
  • 01:18And that really like, opens the doors
  • 01:20for like, people doing very, very
  • 01:22incredibly unique things.
  • 01:25Medical School is a difficult time.
  • 01:26There's a lot to learn.
  • 01:27But at the end of the day,
  • 01:29when you're surrounded by what
  • 01:30feels more like a family,
  • 01:32that makes getting through
  • 01:33it just so much easier.
