This seminar investigates three central questions: 1) where is transgender-specific medical care available in the US? 2) how many trans people in the US are there who may access this care? and 3) how geographically accessible is transgender-specific healthcare? In it I detail the construction and validation of a database of gender-affirming hormone therapy providers, a spatial analysis of estimates regarding the size and demographics of the US trans population, and the results of a 3-step floating catchment area method for quantifying the spatial accessibility of trans-specific healthcare using Texas as a case study.
