Biography

Dr. Anthony Tanella received his medical degree from the SUNY Downstate College of Medicine in 2016. He then completed Anesthesiology Residency in 2020 at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where he served as chief resident during the COVID-19 pandemic. Following residency, Dr. Tanella served on the faculty at Mount Sinai from 2020-21. In late 2021, Dr. Tanella joined the faculty at the Yale School of Medicine. He currently serves as the Director of Quality and Safety for the Division of Ambulatory Anesthesiology and is the assistant director for the Head and Neck Anesthesiology Fellowship. He also works closely with the Yale Department of Psychiatry as the Medical Director of Anesthesia for Electroconvulsive Therapy. Prior to a career in medicine, Dr. Tanella has extensive experience in engineering and statistics as an actuary at Transatlantic Reinsurance Company (2007-2012) and in various undergraduate research positions (2004-2006) at Boston University.
