To date, evidence moving the needle remains sparse, however important points in favor and against this practice remain. In addition, improvements in ECG interpretation in athletes has evolved. This session is geared to review the evolution of ECG interpretation for athletes and to debate the use of ECG screening for athletes.

    696-06: Women Are Not Smaller Men! Unique Factors That Impact Women’s Heart Health Throughout the Lifespan: Featuring the 2023 Douglas P. Zipes Distinguished Awardee Keynote
    Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in women. There are sex differences in the risk conferred by traditional risk factors. Additionally, women experience unique risk factors throughout the lifespan related to hormones, pregnancy and menopause. Other emerging risk factors such as autoimmune disease and mental health disorders may impact women's heart health to a greater extent. This session focus on CV risk factors that are female specific or female predominant, focusing on screening and implications for prevention.

    707-14 - Putting the Patient First: Shared Decision Making With Chest Pain Patients
    The goals of this session are to highlight key topics from the chest pain guidelines with a focus on the management of acute chest pain. The session will start with a case and didactic talks defining patient risk, review high sensitivity troponins, and how to implement clinical decision pathways in triage of acute chest pain. This will set the stage for a debate focusing on anatomic versus functional testing in the evaluation of acute chest pain. After the debate, we will review non-ischemic causes of chest pain and concluding the session with a review of shared decision making.

    This session will show how an integrated approach to establishing AF centres of excellence can improve outcomes for patients with AF using a patient-centered approach, including improved Quality of Life, reduced morbidity from stroke, heart failure and AF symptoms, and reduced mortality. The goals of centres should include reducing gaps in health care, and reducing health inequalities across the system, through a more integrated approach to AF management to overcome the current disjointed approach to care. The session will provide practical approaches to achieving these goals in a variety of healthcare settings, in different resource settings.
