Astor Services for Children and Families has become the first Intensive In-Home Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Service (IICAPS) site in New York State. Located in Poughkeepsie, Astor joins a network of 20 IICAPS agencies throughout Connecticut (CT) that provide home-based mental health treatment to children with severe emotional disturbances and at risk of psychiatric hospitalization and their families. Developed at Yale in 1996 by Joseph Woolston, MD, Jean Adnopoz, MPH, and Steven Berkowitz, MD, with the support of the CT. The Astor/IICAPS clinicians, supervisor, child psychiatrist and lead administrator that will staff the new program have completed initial training at the Child Study Center and will continue to receive on-going consultation, assistance in the implementation of the model, data collection and monitoring from the staff of IICAPS Services, headed by Kristin Holdt, MSW. The Child Study Center welcomes Astor Services to the IICAPS family and looks forward to further expansion of the network.
