Dr. Samantha Smith is an assistant professor of Clinical Orthopedics and Rehabilitation at the Yale School of Medicine. She is board certified in Pediatrics and Internal Medicine, with a Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine. She is a specialist in the non-operative treatment of musculoskeletal injuries as well as concussions.

Dr. Smith grew up in New England and was active in youth sports and high school sports. Inspired by her pediatrician, she knew from a young age that she wanted to pursue a career in medicine. In college, she was a member of the women’s varsity crew, winning three NCAA Div. 3 team titles and being selected as an All-American in her senior year. She also had multiple injuries and understands the experience of an injured athlete.

She completed her residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital in combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. She then spent an additional year serving as a Chief Resident in the Yale Department of Pediatrics, followed by a fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine at the Hospital for Special Surgery. While in fellowship, she was the head team physician for the KIPP NYC College Prep high school football program and was an assistant team physician for the New York Mets and New York Giants. She also provided race medical coverage at the Lake Placid Ironman triathlon and the New York Marathon. She is currently the medical team physician for the Connecticut Sun and the Green Racing Project (Craftsbury, VT). She is a member of the medical team for the Yale University Bulldogs.

Dr. Smith sees pediatric patients in New Haven, Trumbull, and Norwalk. She sees adult patients in New Haven and Wallingford.
