As a Yale Sports Medicine Fellow, you will be operating with world-renowned experts in shoulder, elbow, hip, and knee procedures. Your experience will encompass a mix of clinical work, education, and research during your time with us.
As a critical member of the Sports Medicine service, you will participate in all aspects of clinical and surgical care. You will provide surgical decision making and perform logistical functions preceding, during, and after surgical procedures. After demonstrating autonomy, as judged by consensus opinion of the Sports Medicine division attendings, you may be allowed to perform operative procedures independently with direct oversight of the attending.
You will be expected to serve as one of the primary educators for residents, medical students, and advanced practice providers. Didactically, you will be responsible for the organization and execution of the Sports Medicine section’s weekly meeting; a rotating schedule to include MRI conference, indications conference, journal club, and Orthopaedic Knowledge Update – Sports Medicine review sessions. You will also be expected to participate in weekly ongoing morbidity and mortality meetings and present at Yale Grand Rounds no less than once per academic year. You will also be encouraged to participate in national extra-curricular teaching opportunities.
We believe better strategies and outcomes are directly driven by data. You will be expected to produce at least one peer-reviewed publishable article during your one-year tenure and will work closely as a research mentor for the Yale Orthopaedic Surgery residents, as well as Yale School of Medicine medical students who demonstrate an interest in Orthopaedic Surgery.
As part of your experience with Yale Sports Medicine, you will have the opportunity to work with regional, collegiate, and professional teams, which include Yale Athletics, Southern Connecticut State University, local high school football games, the WNBA’s Connecticut Sun, Connecticut Whale women’s professional hockey team, and more.
