    Biography

Dr Tyagi is interested in translational biomedical research focused on platelets and T cells. He is exploring the molecular basis of platelet dysfunction and platelet mediated events in various pathophysiological states including solid tumors and rare disorder - immune thrombocytopenia (ITP). He has developed interest in platelet-T cell crosstalk mechanisms and recently discovered a novel platelet dependent T cell regulatory mechanism mediated by TLT-1. His research approach involves lab investigations on human samples, mouse models and in vitro as well as in silico studies. He has also formulated a descriptive guide to study platelets for clinical and basic research. During COVID-19 pandemic, Dr Tyagi was a key contributor in providing the insights into COVID-19 associated platelet dysfunction. He is also key contributor in other translational research projects at Yale, and consultant in Platelet Research Facility led by Dr Hwa at YCCEH.

He has studied human and rodent platelets and T cells using a range of methods. Besides this, he has also studied the intricacies of age associated changes in platelet biology and antiplatelet therapy in cardiovascular disorders. In past, for his PhD in Life Science, Dr Tyagi investigated the role of platelet proteome for its role in hypoxia induced thrombosis.
