Biography

Ricardo Avendaño is a board-certified cardiologist and clinical cardiac electrophysiology fellow at Yale. He obtained his medical degree after graduated cum laude of his class from the Dr. José Matías Delgado University in El Salvador. Subsequently, he went on to complete his internal medicine residency program at Jacobi Medical Center, university hospital from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, NY. In 2019 he was recruited to Yale, to perform a research and clinical fellowship in cardiovascular medicine. Here, in addition to his clinical training he performed a multimodality molecular translational cardiovascular research program in where he studied the role of imaging in guiding cardiovascular interventions. Currently, he is pursuing advanced training in clinical cardiac electrophysiology fellowship. In addition to his interest in cardiac electrophysiology, his work focuses on the role of imaging and cardiovascular interventions and more recently in global health initiatives to improve cardiovascular health in under development countries. His work has been published in several peer-reviewed journals, including the Europace, JACC Electrophysiology, Circulation, American Journal of Physiology, among others. Outside work he enjoys spending time with his family and exploring the outdoors in the northeast.
