    Biography

    Jyoti Malhotra, MD, MPH, is an Associate Professor of Medicine (Medical Oncology) and cares for patients with thoracic malignancies including lung cancer at the Center for Thoracic Cancers at Smilow Cancer Hospital and Yale Cancer Center in New Haven. She is a thoracic medical oncologist and a member of the Developmental Therapeutics program. She underwent residency training at Washington Hospital Center & Georgetown University and fellowship training at the Mount Sinai hospital in NY city. Dr Malhotra joined Yale from the City of Hope Comprehensive Cancer Center where she served as co-leader of the thoracic disease team. Prior to City of Hope, she was at the Rutgers Cancer Institute in NJ where she was the leader for the Phase I disease team and co-chair of the institutional Data Safety Monitoring committee.

    Dr. Malhotra’s expertise is in Experimental Therapeutics and investigating novel agents and combinations for cancer therapy. She has served as institutional PI on >50 trials and has developed and led >10 investigator-initiated trials including first-in-human studies. Malhotra's research focus is on mechanisms underlying immunotherapy resistance and leveraging innovative trials designs as well as novel combinations to target this. Her goal is to integrate leading-edge developments in precision medicine with immunotherapy to enhance the body’s natural ability to fight cancer. She has published >100 peer-reviewed manuscripts and has been awarded funding from the American Cancer Society, American Lung Association, NIH/NCI, Conquer Cancer Foundation and most recently from APRA-H ADAPT program. She is also an active member of the SWOG cooperative group and serves on multiple national and international committees with IASLC, SITC, ASCO and ASTRO.
