Biography
Dr. Cahill serves as Residency Program Director for the Yale Department of Psychiatry, Deputy Medical Director at Connecticut Mental Health Center and Chief of Behavioral Health at Continuum of Care Inc. He and co-authors were first to introduce 'deprescribing' to psychiatry, as a means to promote minimum-effective dosing of medications; build treatment alliance; and optimally integrate psychodynamic and socio-cultural considerations, as part of holistic psychiatric care. He is interested in emerging severe mental illness; multi-stakeholder driven Learning Health Systems and translational research approaches.
John undertook medical school and PhD training in the UK and completed psychiatry residency and clinical research fellowships at Yale. He is board certified in Psychiatry, Addiction Medicine and Clinical Informatics.
