A former classroom teacher, I am delighted to share my enthusiasm for educational excellence with the dedicated faculty members of the Department of Ob/Gyn & Reproductive Sciences. Proud mom to Katherine, Billy and Colby, I enjoy all of the successes and achievements of my children as well as those of the students I encounter here at YSM.

Obstetric trainees have inconsistent and infrequent opportunities to learn shared decision making. Simulation with standardized patients (SPs) can be a way to effectively practice these high stakes, low frequency interactions, potentially improving trainees’ comfort and skills.

Abstract/SynopsisPoint-of-care ultrasonography (POCUS) is increasingly used in medicine and is widely integrated into training. While obstetric (OB) ultrasound (US) is prevalent, its formal use and curriculum is often overlooked in POCUS training. Obstetric ultrasound provides invaluable opportunity for learners to gain POCUS skills. Formal training and simulation significantly improves learning knowledge, confidence, and practical OB POCUS skills that can be used during clinical care.
