Jaleah Rutledge

Dr. Jaleah Rutledge (she/her) is a T32 postdoctoral fellow in the Yale AIDS Prevention Training Program at the Center for Interdisciplinary Research on AIDS at Yale University. Dr. Rutledge obtained her PhD in Ecological-Community Psychology from Michigan State University. She is also a proud alumna of Tuskegee University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications. Her program of research focuses on racial health disparities, health equity, and health promotion among marginalized populations. More specifically, she is interested in understanding and utilizing strengths and community-based approaches for the promotion and protection of the sexual and reproductive health of Black women and girls. Her long-term goal is to maintain a program of research that not only deepens understanding of health inequities but also informs interventions that center the resilience, agency, and lived experiences of Black women.

Dr. Rutledge is committed to service and leadership. She currently serves as Co-Chair of the Yale Black Postdoctoral Association and has been recognized for both her scholarship and service. She has successfully secured prestigious research funding, including a grant from Yale's Office of the Provost to build a research partnership with her alma mater, Tuskegee University. Her work has earned several awards, including the Dissertation of the Year Award from the Society for Community Research and Action (APA Division 27), Graduate Student Leader of the Year Award, and the Bob and Bets Caldwell Land-Grant Values Award.
