    Overview

Emmanuel Akintoye, MD, MPH, is a cardiologist who specializes in multimodality and structural imaging of the heart. He is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, cardiovascular CT, MRI, echocardiography, and nuclear cardiology.

As a multimodality specialist, he guides the management of a patient with known or suspected cardiovascular disease through the use of noninvasive imaging technologies—whether that is a single test or multiple tests. He performs structural imaging for patients who have an abnormality in the structure of the heart or in one of its components.

“Growing up, I was always motivated about finding solutions to complex challenges that impact human life,” Dr. Akintoye says. “Being a cardiologist and a multimodality imager provided me the opportunity to address complex heart disease using state-of-the-art, noninvasive technologies. There also is a sense of fulfilment that comes with improving a patient’s quality of life and overall survival.”

An assistant professor of medicine (cardiovascular) at Yale School of Medicine, Dr. Akintoye focuses his research mainly on the application of multimodality imaging in disease affecting the heart’s valves.
