Biography

Dr. Crowley is an Associate Professor at Yale School of Nursing in the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Specialty Masters Program. She practices as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and teaches master’s nursing students in the areas of family studies, research, early care and school health, and pharmacology . In her capacity as a consultant, Dr. Crowley was a member of the Leadership Team of Healthy Child Care Connecticut, a project funded through the US Department of Health and Human Services Maternal Child Health Bureau (1997-2005) and currently provides consultation to the CT Early Childhood Comprehensive Systems grant. Dr. Crowley received her B.S.N. degree from The Catholic University of America, her M.A. in Parent- Child Nursing from New York University, her PNP post graduate certificate from the University of Connecticut, and her PhD from the School of Family Studies at the University of Connecticut. Her research, publications, community activities, and professional involvement for more than 20 years has focused on improving health and developmental outcomes for children and their families in out-of-home child care settings. She co-founded the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Associates and Practitioners' (NAPNAP) Child Care Special Interest Group, and she served on the American Academy of Pediatrics' Committee on Early Childhood, Adoption, and Dependent Care. Currently she is serving as Chair of the Child Development Technical Panel for the USDHHS MCHB Caring for Our Children: National Health and Safety Performance Standards: Guidelines for Out-of-Home Child Care Programs (3rd ed). In addition, she represents NAPNAP on the Advisory Committee for the USDHHS MCHB National Training Institute for Child Care Health Consultants.
